Your categories are too limited. Fedora and Opensuse require any application with a menu to have a category. Large portions of human life have not category. This will result in the misclassification of many programs. You have an Education;Science Category. Did it ever occur to you guys that somebody might be doing Science who was not involved in Education? What about seismic processing? Do you think people are going to stop looking for oil because you don't have a category for them? I guess most seismic analysis is done in offices so people are going to call their programs "Office". Seismic processing is a multi-million dollar industry. Perhaps you are waiting around trying to think up the perfect system. The Library of Congress is still working on their classification system. While you are dithering, hundreds of program are being misclassified. If you ever figure out a classification that applies people are going to have to reclassify their programs, causing confusion! What about a Farm management program? Do you want to put it in office? One can easily think of five commonly used types of programs that don't fit anywhere. If you are going to sit around dithering trying to create the perfect classification system, you should let people create their own provisional classifications while waiting for you to do something or have a Not applicable category. It has been 6 months since I requested a category for astrology programs, such a classifications would take 5 minutes once someone made up their minds, but go dither some more. Bug track does not show any progress. One of the charges against the British King in the Declaration of independence was: "He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them." It seems to fit. Please shit or get off the pot.

I was filing this bug into your tracking system, and no category seemed to fit, so I left the category blank. The bug tracking system came back and said the category was required and if you did not know take the best guess. So I tried administration. Thus, this incident is a perfect example of what happens when you have a category system where none of the alternatives fit! Please put in the correct category for this bug. And it is a bug, your system is causing many programs to be misclassified. If you do not have such a category, please create one! This ramains a bug, even if you have no category for it.
Not our bug, closing. Please do not reopen.
I will refile this bug under product=specfications componet=desktop-entry
