dmesg output

the problem is I do not detect the external monitor connected to dvi. happens in any modern linux distro. message identified a suspect: 

[drm] nouveau 0000:02:00.0: Detected 2 encoder on DVI-I-1, but no object!. The laptop is a Clevo 

W860CU with nvidia 260M

Hi Ivan

The problem you are having is because there is no (known) encoder attached to the DVI connector - see "Off-chip encoder 2/1 unsupported"

Can you please try nouveau git [1] - I'm not too sure if it will help but it's worth a shot

I echo what I said and it seems to work, although it grabs the resolution of external monitor otherwise all ok.
