I just updated (via apt-get) Cairo at my SuSE 9.3 system, and now I'm having many crashes, with previously installed applications. For example, Synaptic doesn't run, and produces: (synaptic:11924): Gdk-WARNING **: Using Cairo rendering requires the drawable argument to have a specified colormap. All windows have a colormap, however, pixmaps only have colormap by default if they were created with a non-NULL window argument. Otherwise a colormap must be set on them with gdk_drawable_set_colormap Segmentation fault VMWare also doesn't run (it fails trying to use the fullscreen option) producing the previous message, and also (vmware:12216): Gtk-WARNING **: gtkobject.c:310: Property type `(null)' is not supported by the GtkArg compatibility code As a further example, Azureus also fails, producing a long log, which includes the message above ("Using Cairo rendering..."). Real Player 10 and VMWare are two more examples. This didn't happen with glib2 2.6.3-4 and gtk2 2.6.4-6. The problem started when I changed to versions 2.7.4. I just tried versions 2.7.5, and the problem still exists. I downgraded glib2 and gtk2 to the previous versions, and everything works again.
Created attachment 3326 [details] [review] possible Solution I also had problems with the latest gtk-qt-engine on my SuSE 9.0 Box with Gimp and gnome packages from CVS. Gimp did not crash but the menus were with black font on black background. I really do not know why the menus were black, but with the above patch they are correctly displayed.
This appears to be the same problem as #3983 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 3983 ***
