Similar error was described also in bug: 38701 where the word text boxes is used instead of frames.
I did several tests with reporter's sample: - Empty page with "LibreOffice 3.4.3 RC2 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO340m1 (Build:302)]", I can't find any picture in the zipped contents after I saved document as .odt - "LibreOffice Portable 3.3.3 - WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) German UI [OOO330m19 (Build:301 Tag 3.3.3.1)]" shows an empty frame with expected size, but incorrect arranged - Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI [(Build ID: 81607ad-3dca5fd-da627d2)]" shows a mini-frame, arranged more or less correctly (top of page, centered), but empty - looks fine with MS WORD Viewer - no contents visible with OOo 3.3 @Luigi Boccia: Unfortunately this picker is missing in the new Bug Submission Assistant: What OS do you use? I'm experienced the same error both in Windows Professional 7 64Bit and in Windows 7 Professional 32 bit. I hope you'll be able to emend this error which is essential in importing doc files of conference papers or scientific papers.
WIN for now, but I believe it will be the same for all OS. @Luigi Boccia: Unfortunately I currently have no MSO available. Can you do some additional research concerning Frame without picture, Picture without frame ... and attach a sample document with those cases? May be that helps.
Created attachment 51691 [details] Error example Note: I'm using the words text box and frames as equivalent words. The error is not present when a docx file is saved as odt from MS Word. However, images within text boxes do not appear when the docx file is opened with Libreoffice. The attached examples should further clarify this aspect. Image and frames.docx This file contains three examples of images with frames or without frames Images and frames.pdf This file shows how the previous file looks like in MS Word Image and frames (Exported from MS Word).odt Is the first file (.docx) saved as odt from MS Word 2010. File visualization is correct. Therefore the only problem is when a docx file is opened directly with Libreoffice. In this case, only image without text box appear.
@Luigi Thank you, I believe now the testkit is complete
Since all new unconfirmed bugs start in state UNCONFIRMED now and old unconfirmed bugs were moved to NEEDINFO with a explanatory comment, all bugs promoted above those bug states to NEW and later are automatically confirmed making the CONFIRMED whiteboard status redundant. Thus it will be removed.
Error confirmed in LO3.5 beta1

Opening this file using LibreOffice 4.0.0 with Linux Mint 14 x64 result in the same behavior as shown in your screenshot of MS Word. Therefore I mark this as RESOLVED FIXED. Kind regards, Joren
