Create a table with two columns and two rows. Place the cursor in one of the cells. Press and hold the Alt key. Use arrow keys to change the cell size. Instead of changing the cell size, the cursor moves in the direction indicated by the arrow key.
Use Tools->Options->LibreOffice Writer->Table. In the section of the dialog labeled keyboard handling, there is a set of radio buttons that are supposed to change the keyboard response. The choices are (1) Fixed, (2) Fixed,proportional, and (3) Variable. These options have no effect.
