"i am not an expert, so perhaps i am not able to describe the problem as needed;
and perhaps i've also put this issue in the wrong category. ....

because i first attached a screenshot.... an image tell more than hundred words
then i try to describe the problem:

with this file

evince can't draw/render it properly (as you see in the attachment)
evince draw/render nonexistent characters

i'm using ArchLinux x86_64 and italian environment
with latest gnome 3.2 software

present also in new poppler-0.18.0 and evince-3.2.1

The link is broken but I found the file at www.trenord.it/media/1847/mi-va-laveno.pdf.

Reproduced with 92ce79f4. Works with master. Looks like it has been fixed by the xpdf-3.03 merge.
