Description Boudewijn 2011-10-11 02:21:30 UTC
On openSUSE with KDE 4.7.2 the horizontal scrollbar in Librecalc not working and only 75% visible. If read that more distributions have the same problem and that it is also present in version 3.4.2 of Libre Office.

Same problem found on LibreOffice 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:1206) on Suse 11.4 with KDE 4.6.00. The horizontal scroll bar in Calc and in Writer both fail since most recent software update. After loading a new spreadsheet in calc the horizontal scroll will move just once, from its start position and then it cannot be moved again.
The same problem seems to have occurred in another linux, see:-

Same problem found on LibreOffice 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:1206) running SUSE 11.4. I'm using KDE: 4.6.00 (4.6.0) "release 6". Using a 3 button mouse, pressing the mouse wheel with the pointer on the horizontal scroll bar does work.

It may be a KDE problem, not a LibreOffice problem after all. I am not expert enough to tell. However the work around is to use the middle mouse button, not the left button. I have reproduced some helpful suggestions from this forum:-

http://forums.opensuse.org/forums/english/get-technical-help-here/applications/466691-libreoffice-scroll-bar-freeze.html#post2395431

it has been reported and will be worked, see
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=718357

other work-arounds:

-problem only seen in KDE4, (run gnome, lxde, etc)

-use YaST to remove libreoffice-kde4 "package and now the problem is
gone. A shame though that I end up with libre office looking like a mid
90-ies application"

-run LO portable 3.4.3 in wine

-use the arrow keys to scroll back and forth

-install the vanilla version from LibreOffice website

The same problem with LibreOffice 3.4.3 OOO340m1 (Build:302)

I wanted to go to right of the document (calc) and then i couldn't ever go back with the horizontal scrollbar, nor with the middle button... I just could use the "home" key to go back to bottom left of the document! the horizontal scrollbar seems to have a graphical bug... I took a snapshot if someone is interested.. I don't know how to post here the attachment (png)
KDEsc i use is 4.7.2
