I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and when I open (or sometimes close) Firefox, Epiphany or Opera web browsers (Chromium is exempt), LibreOffice starts up almost every time. In some instances, it opens LibreOffice upon exiting a page or tab as well. It has become troublesome in using any web browser, as it sporatically triggers LibreOffice to open whenever using these browsers. On some occasions, it even starts up upon using Thunderbird as well, but not as much as using the listed browsers. The only fix I've found so far, is by removing LibreOffice entirely from my system, which I would prefer not to do long-term.
Hi Chad, I've noticed this too on my Ubuntu Oneiric 32bit version with LibO 3.4.3. Try removing the mozilla plugin : sudo apt-get remove mozilla-libreoffice Alex
Hi Chad, I'm going to close this as NOTOURBUG, but you should open a report on the Ubuntu bugzilla against LibreOffice as this is specific to the distrib I guess. Alex
Will do, thanks again. Reopening as this is likely root caused by the typo rene found: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/REVIEW-3-5-1-3-4-nsplugin-broken-due-to-typo-td3788869.html
Assigning to Rene, so he gets the kudos for this and marking RESOLVED,FIXED: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=648589a0bd6c72b8b6b125644b43c6efad17ead1
adding downstream bug
@Björn: umm, thanks, but I am not sure in this. Even with this fix it opens a separate window, too here. That fix just was to make it actually open a document...
(and the fix you probably meant was http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-3-5-1&id=0334a6ec8311503d9162d41973825ad8616db652,0 was the breaking commit back in time)
Reopening as per renes comment, cant confirm it to be fixed here. However, I do not see anything opening at all. Instead I get interesting output on the terminal when starting firefox in a terminal and opening an odt link: rvOrvO`@\rvO`@\rvO`@\rvO`file:///home/bjoern/.mozilla/firefox/phbzvumk.default/Cache/0/50/OpenDocument-v1.1.odtrvO`@\file:///home/bjoern/.mozilla/firefox/phbzvumk.default/Cache/0/50/OpenDocument-v1.1.odt which looks 'interesting'. Ubuntu precise, libreoffice_3.5.0-2ubuntu1, firefox_11.0~b4+build1-0ubuntu1.
Perhaps its been fixed? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/882588/comments/13
