When hovering the cursor over the red square which denotes a comment, the comment appears without a background and can therefore be obscured by entries in adjacent cells. in such a case, the show comment option has to be selected, then cancelled after reading.

Thanks for writing your report.
However, comments that I make have by default a pale yellow background and a bralck border + shadow..
Is the case in LibreOffice 3.4.3 (and more)..
So I cannot confirm the problem.
Do you have any more details?

no answer, not reproducible in default installation → worksforme.
