LibreOffice 3.3.2 OOO330m19 (Build:202) tag libreoffice-3.3.2.2, Ubuntu package 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu2~lucid1 Libreoffice crashes and disappears when I try to save a document in .rtf or .doc of then I return to the document after 2 hours the document have been idle. For reproducing the bug: open an odf document and try to save it as rtf. Or open a doc or rtf document and leave it for a couple of hours. After that return to the document and try editing, navigating, clicking inside the document and on the buttons, scrolling and saving. Usually libreoffice crashs in 0-10 sec after returning to the document. I have mentioned, that the problem presists with only non odf documents.
I've just created a simple ODF (odt) file then I saved in rtf, I haven't succeeded in reproducing this pb. (I'm on pc Debian testing x86-32 and use 3.4.4 from SID repository) Could you test again with LO version 3.4.4 ? (the current version) or at least with 3.4.3 ? And if you reproduce the pb with 3.4.4, could you attach the odt file ?
Hello, I am afraid I can not be useful anymore. I moved back to openoffice.org because of one more bug very important for me: it is impossible to change text background or remove highlighting, the choice of colors does not appear. Could you reinstall Libreoffice (even temporary) to give it a new try ? To be sure to start with clean things, make sure you don't have a directory called .libreoffice on your home directory. You can also connect too : http://webchat.freenode.net/ on channel #libreoffice Some people can help there. If I'm on the channel my nickname is julien2412. Don't hesitate to take a look at the docs here : http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ Julien. PS : BTW, perhaps you should think about upgrading Ubuntu if you're still on Lucid.
Thank you for you help, only 3.3.2 is available for lucid from stable repository */ppa:libreoffice/ppa /* My computer is too slow with 11.10, so 10.04 is the latest, what works for me and my software (eg estonianidcard installer.id.ee). I have installed libreoffice 3.4.4 by downloading an archive from http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.4.4/deb/x86/LibO_3.4.4_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz it does not show controls properly, the buttons and menu are showed as text in frame, without icons. It is difficult to find highlighting and background color. I will try it again later. Created attachment 53878 [details] Screenshot-Untitled 1.rtf - LibreOffice Writer.png (In reply to comment #5) > I have installed libreoffice 3.4.4 by downloading an archive from > http://download.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/stable/3.4.4/deb/x86/LibO_3.4.4_Linux_x86_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz > it does not show controls properly, the buttons and menu are showed as > text in frame, without icons. I forgot to say that if you want to test new version, think about remove (or rename) your profile LO directory (~/.libreoffice). I saw some people having pbs because of an old profile. I don't know if you use extension, but it could be useful to test first without extension.
the highlighting and background problems I described presist in 3.4.4 also, please find screenshot attached. It is not possible to remove highlighting or change background. The first time I started LOwriter immediatelly after installation, highlighting and background changind worked properly. The pb appears after restarting of computer. The folder .libreoffice was removed before the new installation. The pb with icons of controls does not appear anymore. So LO is unstable for me and I am going to remove it. Nevertheless OOO crashs regularly with non-odf-s, it is sill possible to perform my job with it. At least highlighting works properly.
