Description Jin 2005-09-04 13:32:35 UTC
Please.. I am tired of this, how can I get direct rendering working, tried
alot of methods not giving good results.

Using gentoo-sources 2.6.13
Tried both xorg 6.8.2 (xorg crashes with i810 unless emerging x11-drm-20050808
but dri not working)
and xorg 6.8.99.15 (working with i810 driver but dri not working)
Computer:
Hp pavilion dv4060
graphics card i915GM
using driver i810

The results I get on glxgears:700-800 fps, while I know it should be over
1600fps.

Try the current release candidate xorg-x11-6.8.99.900 first, available at:

http://xorg.freedesktop.org/X11R6.9-RC0 .

xorg-6.8.99.15 is obsolescent.

Tried to install the one that you suggested: got this error when trying to run
it:

(EE) failed too load module "pcidata" (module does not exist, 0)

Fatal server error:
Unable to load required base modules, Exiting...

 any ideas?

You didn't install it correctly. To install, run "make World",
followed by "make install"

When properly installed, you must have this file installed (and many others):
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libpcidata.a

Since this appears to be an installation problem, closing as NOTABUG.
