Would it be possible to have full user control over which key combinations switch/toggle between keyboard layouts? If only hard-coded options are possible, I hope you'll add the option of having alt+shift toggle the keyboard layout, but *only when they are on the same side of the keyboard* (leaving the other meta-shift open for emacs, etc.), or even a simpler lalt+lshift option.
Well, providing full control is not an option at all You can easily create lalt+lshift option by hacking alt_shift_toggle: just remove RALT and RTSH mapping. But I do not see the need in having it upstream. Do you know if somebody but you needs that option?
Dear Sergey, I don't know either way. But it seems likely to be a common need. Few people bother with bug reports, much less feature requests. I saw several posts in linux forums about needing a switching combination that's purely with the left hand. This made me realize I also have this same habit :-) The other two components are very common: using two languages and using emacs. So I imagine this feature would be used if people become aware of it. cheers, Amnon

Hi Sergey, Sorry, I didn't find that post again. But I found https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/control-center/+bug/36812 which describes a much better solution for this kind of problem. Unfortunately, there seems to be some political ill-will towards that solution. So perhaps my sillier suggestion is more practical. cheers, Amnon
Ok, Done. Enjoy:)
Thanks Sergey :-) Amnon
