Description Yifan Jiang 2012-01-28 23:08:00 UTC
Platform: SLED 11 sp1 i586
Build: Libreoffice 3.5.0 rc2

[Steps]

    1. Open the page with firefox 9.0.1 (it is our Litmus testing results
    report)

    https://tcm.documentfoundation.org/advanced_search.cgi?test_run=23&product=&branch=&testgroup=&subgroup=&testcase=&platform=&opsys=&locale=&result_status=&start_date=&timespan=&end_date=Now&search_field1=&match_criteria1=contains_all&search_value1=&search_field2=&match_criteria2=contains_all&search_value2=&search_field3=&match_criteria3=contains_all&search_value3=&search_field4=&match_criteria4=contains_all&search_value4=&sort_field1=&sort_order1=ASC&sort_field2=&sort_order2=ASC&sort_field3=&sort_order3=ASC&sort_field4=&sort_order4=ASC&limit=200&automated=all&withbugs=all

    2. In the page, it contains a table with 190 rows and a head

    3. Select all of content within the table and Edit->Copy

    4. Launch Libreoffice Calc and paste the table

    5. In the "Import Options" dialog box, select "Automatic" and press "OK"
    button.

[Problem]

It needs to wait for quite a while to paste (Actually I didn't see its
successful paste in 6 mins standing by, and still waiting). Libreoffice
looks like hang in the user interface, but threads are kept creating and
    destroying in gdb log.

The waiting time here is about 13 minutes with Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9550 @ 2.66GHz.

Hi Yifan,

I guess the problem comes from the lot of images in the table. Is there a mean to try with a table which contains only text and numbers ?

page without image

Hi JBF:

Yes, it's caused by the icons, I removed the images and put the page and style locally, the paste finished in 0.5 seconds :)

I am closing this bug and will open another one particularly if meet more struggling use case about pasting web images. Thank you!

Wait a minute, just did a quick glance in MSOffice, which did the paste pretty faster (in 5 seconds).

We could keep this one for performance improving.

currently in 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit copy-pasting this page takes about one minute
Comment 6 sasha.libreoffice 2012-05-14 04:45:36 UTC
Sorry, previous test was done in Writer.
In Calc this takes several minutes on Fedora 64 bit and Windows 7 32 bit
Changing component to Spreadsheet because problem there looks more serious
Comment 7 sasha.libreoffice 2012-05-14 04:49:44 UTC
reproduced in 3.3.4 on Fedora 64 bit, changing version to 3.3.4

I am closing this bug report as INVALID because the original web page serving as test file does not exist anymore, so we do not have reference for comparison. :-(

Please feel free to reopen if you have a better solution.
