Description alfman.lustenau 2012-02-22 09:45:16 UTC
In a table I have to enter one number in a cell, the next two are calculated, and so on. I enter a value and press arrow right key three times to get to the cell I have to enter the next value. To get out of the fist cell after entering a value, take at least five times more time as id did in LO 3.3.

To me , it seems, that calc does calculate more cells, than the one it should.

I have tested different versions of 3.4 and each time went back to 3.3. As 3.5 was released, I gave it a try, but found the problem not solved.

I do not understand the problem, a quick test with 3.5.0 WIN 7 34bit did not show any arrowright reach next cell problem.

@reporter:
May be hints on <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> will help you to find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Attach a sample document (not only screenshot)
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431)
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- what EXACTLY is unexpected
-- and WHY do you believe it's unexpected (cite Help or Documentation!)
  -- concerning your PC
-- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
-- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language, Locale
setting). Is the problem the same in 3.4 and 3.5 or worse in 3.5?
–- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
-- how you launch LibO and how you opened the sample document
–- If you can contribute an OOo Issue that might be useful
-- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new information might bring the breakthrough.

May be you can test <https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/> for submitting bug reports?

Sorry, if you do not understand, what I want to say.

In short:
3.4.x and 3.5 do not react for long time ( 1 second+on keystrokes, because calculation (of simple functions) take much longer than in 3.3.x did (tenths of a second).

Can't use 3.5 or 3.4 without getting angry about these silly delays.
Maybe I should try OO 3.3.

Without a sample document we can't do anything.

By the way, I also suffer from may be similar effects. From time to time with particular documents with many calculations and charts I see 5 seconds calculation time, but in the moment when I decide to create a sample document from the confidential documents the problem vanishes., So there is no doubt that the problem exists, but without a working test kit it can't be fixed.

The cell I enter a number, is referenced by only 2 others and one diagram.
The table consists of about 60 columns, 600 rows, and 20 diagrams.

And all works good in LO (and OO) 3.3. and went bad in LO 3.4.

To solve this issue, somebody would have to have a look in the code.

It took me some hours (stolen from my lifetime) to find out, that an ods file, saved with LO 3.5 with password set, could not be opened with OO 3.3 and LO 3.3 any more (several installations and removes of 00 3.3 LO 3.3 and 3.5)

So I will stay on OO 3.3, maybe LO 3.3 for the moment, not willing to invest more time.

If you believe in self healing capabilities of software ;-)
