I'm not quite whether this qualifies as a standalone "project", or just a subcomponent of xorg project. But I would like to host xf86-video-omap, the userspace counterpart for omapdrm driver that went into 3.3 kernel, on fd.o. I don't really need wiki or mailing list, I don't think. Or at least not for now. (What is the convention for other xorg drivers?) Bugzilla would be useful, but I think it would just be a subcomponent of xorg? Fwiw, current git tree is at git://github.com/robclark/xf86-video-omap.git but now that the kernel part is upstream, I think it makes sense to host the userspace part somewhere a little bit more "official".
It sounds like what you want is a component under Xorg in bugzilla, and a git repository? If so, please provide an assignee and a description for the component and a description for the git repository. Most drivers don't have their own mailing list, but if you have enough traffic you'll need one, we can always set that up later.
Yeah xorg component in bugzilla + git tree sounds right. I'm not quite sure what you mean by assignee.. if you mean maintainer for the component/tree and one to assign bugs to, that would be me. Might possibly add more, or need a mailing list later, but for now that would be overkill. For description of component, something along the lines of: OMAP video driver (not sure how long of a description you want.. it is an xorg driver for OMAP arm based platforms, like beagleboard or pandaboard.) Thanks
Yeah, the assignee is just for Bugzilla. The normal way is to have you as the default assignee, and xorg-team as the QA contact so the list still gets all the mail too.
ok, that is fine too, I'm happy to follow whatever is the existing convention (although I suppose I need to get added to that list so I see the bugs too?)
git repo and bugzilla component created.
