Description Phillip Ross 2012-03-21 14:41:37 UTC
Go to this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinal_number. Scroll down to the section of Cardinal Exponentiation, and copy and past that section of text into LiO Writer. It immediately crashed and hung forcing a control-alt-delete End Task for LiO.

NOT reproducible with "LibreOffice 3.5.0 RC2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: e371a95-bf68a13-5a1aa2b-d3c1ae9-b938258] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit). I copied from heading "Cardinal exponentiation" to "logarithms of positive real numbers possess.", no CRASH. Also not for complete page

We had some font related problems (Bug 46923, Bug 45355, ), this might be something similar.

@Phillip Ross:
Can you please reduce contents that has to be copied to the "real problem" and check whether CALC also will be affected?
Comment 2 Phillip Ross 2012-03-22 05:25:27 UTC
I tried it again, and LiO immediately crashed and hung. I ended the task, and tried it again, and now it works fine. Hmm...

@Phillip Ross:
That's life - When you see the crash again, please try to gain more information,

May be hints on <http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport> will help you to find out what information will be useful to reproduce your problem? If you believe that that is really sophisticated please as for Help on a user mailing list
Please:
- Write a meaningful Summary describing exactly what the problem is
- Reduce contents what causes the crash from step to step halving text size and
  checking whether the crash still happens.
- Attach screenshots with comments if you believe that that might explain the
  problem better than a text comment. Best way is to insert your screenshots
  into a DRAW document and to add comments that explain what you want to show
- Contribute a step by step instruction containing every key press and every
  mouse click how to reproduce your problem (due to example in Bug 43431). "Copy
  paste" is much too general.
– if possible contribute an instruction how to create a sample document
  from the scratch
- add information
  -- concerning your PC (video card, ...)
  -- concerning your OS (Version, Distribution, Language)
  -- concerning your LibO version and localization (UI language, Locale setting)
  –- Libo settings that might be related to your problems
    (video hardware acceleration ...)
  -- how you launch LibO and what Browser you use
  -- everything else crossing your mind after you read linked texts

Even if you can not provide all demanded information, every little new information might bring the breakthrough.
May be you can test <https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/> for submitting bug reports?

No feedback since months, put it as WFM.

Phillip: don't hesitate to reopen this tracker if you can still reproduce this with a newer LO version (last one is 3.6.4).
