Description michaels.perry 2012-03-24 13:45:22 UTC
When asking Database to create a new database, I complete the dialogs and select Create. Within seconds it closes the interface and XP reports the program failed. Not sure why but clearly some sort of bug.

Did you try to reproduce this with a brand new LO profile ?
Which Java version do you use ?

Could you give more information about options selected :
- register or not registered DB ?
- "open the database for editing" checked or not ?
- "create tables using the table wizard" checked or not ?
Do you reproduce it in any cases ?

Hi

I have LO 3.5.1 installed fesh with no changes at all. I use Java 7 Update 3.

I've tried a range of options from the default ones to trying all the others, and it always stops during the database creation or when opening the application without creating a database. Nothing I've tried over the last several weeks has made any difference, it still won't start! An error dialog, created by XP Pro, is shown and I am asked to report the problem to Microsoft but as it appears to LO having a problem I don't report it any more. (First attempt to report to M$ took over an hour!)

I'm using Windows XP Pro fully patched and updated, Secunia PSI tells me my system is fully up-to-date and I have no other problems with any other applications in LO.

Hope that helps

Mike P

Just to be sure, you don't have any LibreOffice (or OpenOffice) profile from previous install (3.5.X, 3.4.X, ...) ?
It's quite important because sometimes bugs are related to problems with previous profile.

Hi,

Please try updating to a more recent stable version and report back here with your findings.

Also, it might be that LO hasn't registered that you have Java 7, have you checked that it is recognized in Tools > Options > General > Java ?

There are known issues with Java 7 recognition and the crash could be a side effect of that.
