I created a color palette based on Pantone colors to use in Draw, and was able to save it as a .soc file and load it successfully into Draw. I expected to use the same colors in Writer, but for some inexplicable reason there is no option to load a palette in Writer like there is in Draw. This is incredibly asinine.
Can you upload the .soc file and tell us how you add it to draw. This isn't a feature that a lot of people do so adding details is good. Adding NEEDINFO to bug until these two things are done. I also changed the name as asinine can probably offend some people who worked hard bringing a solid product to our users at no cost.
In LibreOffice 4 it seems to work in the same way in Writer and Draw. In Writer you do not have the menu Format > Area in which you can change the color palette (tab Colors). But you can access the same dialog if you create an object with the drawing tool of Writer, then right click on the form and choose the entry Area... In LibreOffice 4 each module has its own palette (I tested only Writer, Draw and Calc) It would be very interesting if you could try a daily build of LO 4. Best regards. JBF
Created attachment 82429 [details] Example ODT, ODG, (and PDFs), SOC, and ASEs, for a couple of Pantone colours. I think this bug can be RESOLVED as FIXED under v4.0 as pointed out by JBF in comment #2. I am merely adding the called for example files propsed by Joel (comment #1) so that others can test this and get this bug resolved. As JBF indicates the method for loading a palette has changed under v4.0. The attached ZIP contains: - example_Draw.odg # example Draw file using included palette - example_Draw.pdf # PDF of example Draw file - example_Writer.odt # example Writer file using included palette - example_Writer.pdf # PDF of example Writer file - pantone_example.soc # limited (2-colour) Pantone palette - PantoneEmerald.ase # Adobe Swatch Exchange file from Pantone - TangerineTango.ase # Adobe Swatch Exchange file from Pantone The Pantone colours Tangerine Tango and Emerald are the colour of the year for 2012 and 2013 respectively. Details can be found at these links: - http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/category.aspx?ca=88 - http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21055 Tangerine Tango has an RGB value in the Pantone Plus series of 225,82,61 (hex:e1523d) while Emerald has an RGB value in the Pantone Plus series of 0,155,119 (hex:009b77). I have created a limited palette file using these values and loaded each by right-click on a drawing object (in either Draw or Writer) and selecting: Area... > Colors tab > Load Color list button. Once loaded the relevant palette colours are available as expected. I have tested this under GNU/Linux running TDF/LO v4.0.3.3 (Build ID: 0eaa50a932c8f2199a615e1eb30f7ac74279539).
According to comments #2 and #3 set as FIXED. Thank you very much Owen. Best regards.JBF
