Paste of website - scroll to crash

Pasting the text from this website (https://www.ncetm.org.uk/resources/23909) results in a document which crashes when scrolling past a flash element.

Expected behaviour: should be able to scroll through the document without a crash

Actual behaviour: crashes

Steps to reproduce:
 1) highlight main body at https://www.ncetm.org.uk/resources/23909
 2) paste into libreoffice writer
 3) scroll

[Reproducible] with "LibreOffice 3.5.2.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 281b639-6baa1d3-ef66a77-d866f25-f36d45f] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Works fine with "LibreOffice 3.3.3 German UI/Locale [OOO330m19 (Build:301) tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

I will do some further research later

@john.pratt@cantab.net:
Can you please check whether DRAW / Impress / Calc also crash?
Comment 2 john.pratt 2012-04-05 12:41:15 UTC
Draw - doesn't crash as it only pastes as unformatted text
Impress - doesn't crash as it only pastes as unformatted text
Calc - doesn't crash as it only pastes as unformatted text

Very old Problem, already [Reproducible] with Server installation of Master "LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI
[(Build ID:d337f79-a24c961-2865670-9752b71-7f8fd43
	2fdd60d-fd28b6a-fd7bf20-aa369cb-28da3fb

	82ff335-599f7e9-bc6a545-1926fdf)]" from (July 2011)

Works fine with 3.4.5

I still want to find out how to create such a sample document from the scratch.

@tester8:
Can you help?
Comment 6 Michael Meeks 2012-07-06 11:42:07 UTC
I wonder if this is the duplicate of the embedding crasher that was most easily seen with video in 3.5.4 - if so it would be Windows only.

Can you re-test with 3.5.4 or 3.5.5 ? I suspect it's (at root) a duplicate of bug#45081

On pc Debian x86-64, with master sources updated today, I didn't reproduce the problem.

On 3.5 branch too (c395f40ee81aa6419dc5ff8d0b6c7ea46a807038), I didn't reproduce the problem but had some freezes. (no specific logs).
Comment 8 john.pratt 2012-07-15 11:36:59 UTC
Using 3.5.5.3 I do not get a crash.

It did freeze for about 6 seconds (longer the first time I opended it, but still probably only about 10 seconds).

It was also able to play the sound file and use the embedded pie chart thing (which to be quite honest I hadn't worked out that I had included!).

I think this can be marked as RESOLVED (it would be good to remove the freeze, but it is now useable).
Comment 9 Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2012-07-16 04:23:17 UTC
for me no longer reproducible with Server installation of Master
"LibO-dev 3.5.0 – WIN7 Home Premium (64bit) English UI
[(Build ID:d337f79-a24c961-2865670-9752b71-7f8fd43
    2fdd60d-fd28b6a-fd7bf20-aa369cb-28da3fb
    6a9633a-931d089-ecd263f-c9b55e9-b31b807
    82ff335-599f7e9-bc6a545-1926fdf)]" from (July 2011)

So we might not have improvment in LibO, but the Website has been modified?

Nevertheless, no longer reproducible, so WFM.

Please feel free to reopen this bug if you find out that the problem reappears with the current stable LibreOffice version
