Description gnc 2012-04-05 04:07:23 UTC
Problem description:
Attempting to open a Lotus Wordpro document with Version 3.5.1 produces message "General Error - General Input Output Error"
Steps to reproduce:
1. From Libre office opening screen, select open file option and navigate to required directory.
2. Select Files of type "Lotus wordpro document (*.lwp) and click on "Read Only" tick box
3. select File name and click on "Open" button.

Current behavior: Information window opens with text "General Error. General input/output error". Clicking on "OK" button takes user back to opening screen.

Expected behavior: Read only version of Wordpro document should open and it should be possible to save it in another, editable, format. Seems to be no work around.

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0

Attach a document showing this behaviour.

I am the author of this bug report. My personal opinion is that it's quite important to get Libre Office working as claimed. As support for Wordpro and Lotus 123 was dropped a few years ago, there are no Wordpro/Lotus 123 versions which will run on 64 bit Windows. This will become an increasing problem for people like me who have many wordpro docs with financial information in them and no easy conversion route to an up to date application. It's also just a bad image for LibO to claim to do this but not deliver? There were some old (early 3.3) versions which could open Wordpro but if we unearth and use those we loose the more recent LibO features. I am a professional tester and could help with functional testing for this. Thanks for reading this far.

@ gnc :
Please provide a test document. I don't know about developing roadmap of LibreOffice in general, but if a dev is supposed to fix this bug, the info here has to be best possible to reproduce the bug.
