Image for product ID. Scaled wrong by LibO Draw 3.5.2 when exported as EPS.

I created an image in Open Office Draw two or three years ago. I brought it into LibO Draw 3.4 and did some editing. When I export it as an EPS file (Encapsulated Postscript), either in LibO Draw 3.4 or LibO Draw 3.5.2, then look at it in GIMP and other EPS viewers, the image as viewed and printed is about 10% larger than it should be.

I have Open Office 3.3 on my computer, so I loaded the same image into OO Draw 3.3 and then exported it as an EPS file. When I view that file in GIMP, it is the correct size.

If I use LibO 3.4 or 3.5.2 to export the image as a PDF file, the image is correctly scaled and rendered using Adobe Reader to view the pdf.

When you export to EPS, you get to change EPS options. Did you make sure you are using the correct values?

I probably set the EPS options for the highest resolution. I'm sure I used the same settings when exporting from LibreOffice as I did from Open Office. LO screwed things up, OO did not. One problem was that LO caused the text "990c" to have the characters overlapping each other. The characters were not overlapping in the OO version. The OO version was correct. I had done some scaling of the spacing of the text. LO caused each character to be larger than it should be, and overlapping. So it was a combination of the entire image being larger than it should be, and the "990c" text characters overlapping each other.

Thank you.

I attached an example image with my original bug report. I just opened that file from the attachment section above using LO-Draw 4.0.0.3, then exported it as an EPS file. The image looks OK in LO-Draw, but I still get the same problems as described in my original bug report when I open that EPS file using GIMP 2.6.11. GIMP allowed me to set the resolution when opening it, so I set it for the maximum of 1440 DPI.

I then opened the example image file using OpenOffice Draw 3.4.1, then exported it as an EPS file. The image looks OK in OO-Draw, but I now get the same problems in OO-Draw 3.4.1 when I open that EPS file using GIMP 2.6.11.

One clear thing to note when viewing the image: There is the text "990c". The "c" should not overlap the "0". When the image is viewed in LO-Draw and OO-Draw, there is no overlap. When it is viewed in GIMP after being exported as an EPS file from either program, the "c" does overlap the "0". Also note that the "c" was created in a separate text box from the "990" text to allow a different font size (25 pt. vs. 28 pt.) and precise positioning of the letter "c" in relation to "990". I used the "Square 721" font.

The original image was created using an older version of OpenOffice, probably version 3.3.

What additional information do you need? Thank you.

Hey John,

thanks for the updated report in Comment 5. The issue I see with this bug here, is, that it addresses several issues. This makes triaging and fixing a bit messy.

John, would you mind filing one bug per issue and connecting the bug reports by using the "See also" field (where you can enter a bug URL).

On OSX 10.10.2 LO 2015-04-02 nightly I can confirm the issue with the letter "c" lapping into the number. The situation is worse than you describe it since I see this issue when opening your example file with LO Draw and in comment 5 you write this is not an issue in draw.

But since this is not the issue described in the titel I really suggest going with new clear reports. Seems to me, to be the best, to move things forward here.

Also Kudos to your work. Had a peek at the YouTube Videos and really liked them. hammond b3: I would have loved to hear some sound out of it.

Leaving this on UNCONFIRMED until we know how to proceed further here.

Overlap issue with correct font

This is how attachment 59572 [details] looks for me on opening, with the correct font Square 721 bold installed. It overlaps even worse than when the correct font is not installed.

My thanks to everyone for the renewed interest in this bug. It is interesting to see the wildly varied results that Steve and Beluga got from my example file. I just opened my example file in Apache OpenOffice Draw V4.1.1, and in LibreOffice Draw Version: 4.5.0.0.alpha0+ (x64). The images look very similar and relatively close to correct, but there are still differences.

I will have to regroup, first to refresh my memory on what was going on three years ago when I filed the bug, and also because I now have a new computer with Windows 8.1 and it does not yet have all of the fonts that the example drawings used (Humanist 521 Condensed is missing). I still have the fonts, but they are not yet migrated to the new system.

I will get back to you soon. Thank you.

Thanks a lot! Putting to NEEDINFO. Take your time and once you've found some to play with this a bit more, just set the bug back to UNCONFIRMED after adding current findings.
