Still crash in 3.6.0.1 RC1 too. This crash doesn't happen on another platforms - only on Mac OS X because there is specific solution of window system.
Created attachment 80390 [details] Crash on OS X 10.8.4/LO 4.0.3.3
Appear in LO 4.0.3 and 4.1.0beta1, too. Changed Importance according to LibreOffice Triage Contest 2013.
Happens for me as well, consistently. Steps: Launch > close default window > choose "Preferences" > select "Online Update" > click "Check now" button > spinning colored pinwheel mouse pointer > crash > "LibreOffice quit unexpectedly" - Report to Apple message box. Note that the "Check for Updates" window that should appear never does. My wild guess is that the bug might be related to opening that window, perhaps its location is being set relative to the currently open window (and in this buggy case we have no open window). Perhaps this bug is unique to the Mac platform where it is common to have the app still running despite all windows being closed (no open windows). Environment: Mac OS X 10.8.4 "Mountain Lion" Mac mini (late 2012) 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB memory Single monitor (Apple Cinema Display) on Mini DisplayPort port. LibreOffice 4.1.0.4 --Basil Bourque
Fixed by development in LO 4.2 with redesign startup window.
