Description Vaughn Reid III 2012-04-13 13:05:09 UTC
Problem description:
I have noticed a problem with LibreOffice 3.5.2 and 3.5.2 RC2 crashing when opening LibreOffice Spreadsheets

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Existing Spreadsheet (I have several multiple page spreadsheets that seem to consistently be able to exhibit the behavior described in this Bug Report)
2. As spreadsheet starts to open, the Document Recovery Wizard starts up and says it must recover the spreadsheet
3. After Recovery Wizard Runs, the spreadsheet opens, is editable, and can be saved, etc.
4. Close Calc
5. Try opening the same spreadsheet again, and steps 2 through 4 will repeat themselves.

Current behavior:
Calc seems to crash when opening some spreadsheets. The recovery wizard runs and then the spreadsheet opens and can be used. After using and re-saving and closing the spreadsheet, when I try to open the spreadsheet again, the same process repeats itself. I have noticed this with spreadsheets with between 4 and 45 sheets. Unfortunately, these spreadsheets are confidential, and I am unable to upload them.

Expected behavior:
Calc should open LibreOffice spreadsheets without needing to run the recovery wizard every time.

Platform (if different from the browser): Windows 7 X64 Professional with LibreOffice 3.5.2 installed.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0

After a full uninstall, manual deletion of the libreOffice directory in c:\program files(x86), and re-install, everything works correctly for me now.

This is now twice in the past 2 months that I've run into situations where I've needed to completely uninstall and then reinstall LibreOffice when moving between small version increments in order to get a stable and fully functional installion. LibreOffice should be able to consistently install and upgrade older versions of itself without issues. It is also worthwhile to to mention that at the time of the original update to 3.5.2, I had Lotus Symphony installed also. When I performed the reinstall, I had removed Lotus Symphony.

So, should I close this case or should it be forwarded to someone on the installer team?

I update to RESOLVED/WORKSFORME, since :
- we can't reproduce the case with a step by step process
- you finally solved your problem

Moreover you may do the following steps :
- uninstall LO
- delete (or backup) LO profile
- run a registry cleaning tool (ccleaner for example is a free soft)
- install LO 3.5.3

Feel free to reopen this case if you reproduce the problem.
