Forwarding this bug from Ubuntu reporter Nikopol: http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/978968 [Problem] Hangs using matlab on ubuntu have been reported by a number of people. The gpu error codes look rather generic, so not sure if these are usable. But we usually never hear from matlab users so something seems to be up. If you have access to a copy of matlab perhaps you can reproduce it on your end? [Original Description] randomly occurs - maybe associated with launching video or maybe matlab ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-22.35-generic-pae 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-22-generic-pae i686 .tmp.unity.support.test.0: ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: i386 Chipset: IGDgm CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: None Date: Sun Apr 8 01:44:15 2012 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: precise DistroVariant: ubuntu DuplicateSignature: [IGDgm] GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00010000 render.IPEHR: 0x01000000 Ubuntu 12.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation N10 Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:a011] (rev 02) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:3594] Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Device [103c:3594] InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha i386 (20120201.1) InterpreterPath: /usr/bin/python2.7 MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Mini 210-3000 ProcCmdline: /usr/bin/python /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py ProcEnviron: ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.2.0-22-generic-pae root=UUID=4f1473b8-598f-41c7-ac04-a9094b9c31a5 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 libdrm2 2.4.32-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-intel Title: [IGDgm] False GPU lockup EIR: 0x00000010 PGTBL_ER: 0x00010000 render.IPEHR: 0x01000000 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: dmi.bios.date: 07/20/2011 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.12 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: 3594 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.board.version: 34.21 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.12:bd07/20/2011:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPMini210-3000:pvr059B100000204500000300100:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn3594:rvr34.21:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: HP Mini 210-3000 dmi.product.version: 059B100000204500000300100 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.7.4-0ubuntu3 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.32-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 8.0.2-0ubuntu3 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.11.4-0ubuntu10 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.7.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.14.99~git20111219.aacbd629-0ubuntu2 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.17.0-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:0.0.16+git20111201+b5534a1-1build2

Overlay active but surface offsets are zero.
Created attachment 60375 [details] [review] Configure before switching on. The GPU is behaving like a naughty peeping tom and looking into places it shouldn't.
Report after applying patch would be fantastic.
Ping for a tested-by ...
Hi Chris et. al. I'm happy to test this out, but not 100% sure what to do - any chance someone could outline the steps? I'm seeing the problem under 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 when using matlab.
Timeout. Please do reopen if you can still reproduce the issue and help us diagnose the problem, thanks.
