Description Yuri 2012-04-20 01:23:33 UTC
I have a fresh Ubuntu 11.10-desktop i386 installation from CD + updates from internet on IBM ThinkPad R51 laptop.

OS works, but after I close the laptop cover and it falls asleep, and I open the cover, it comes back with the black screen.
I can see that OS itself did wake up, I can type password to come back into the workspace (I can see this from the cursor changes). But screen itself stays completely black.

Killing X (Xorg) process from the black terminal doesn't help. X comes back with the black screen again.

I filed Ubuntu PR: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/986045 , but it seems that Xorg is most likely a culprit.

Mass closure: This bug has been untouched for more than six years, and is not obviously still valid. Please file a new report if you continue to experience issues with a current server.
