this doesn't concern Wayland protocol itself. And for the implementation, I'd recommend to track the needed changes on Gnome's bugzilla instead.

While it isn't a bug in wayland or weston, I do think it's worth tracking this problem in the wayland bug tracker, because it significantly affects usability for the wayland project.
