Description Betty Mock 2012-04-27 16:21:02 UTC
I have done lots of mailmerge in other software, but cannot figure yours out. What is an "address list"? While you allow me to hand enter one, I need to use a comma delimited file or a spreadsheet, and I cannot find any way to do that. Further, you appear to limit your merge to just the name and address. I need to put other merge fields in my letters. If that can be done, I sure can't figure out how.

Current behavior: Documentation is incomplete, confusing and impossible to use.

Expected behavior: Documentation needs much improvement.

Ubuntu 11:10

Firefox.

We can't handle such general "make LibO a better software so that I can understand how it works" reports.

@Betty Mock
This is the Bug tracking system, not a helpdesk! You can get assistance from Documentation at <http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/> and on
<http://ask.libreoffice.org/questions/>
or on the public users mailing list <users@libreoffice.org>, a mailing list from <http://www.documentfoundation.org/contribution/#lists> or
<http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Local_Mailing_Lists>

It would be great if you could reopen this bug after you have got answers and leave some concrete hints where in Help explications could be improved.

Hi Rainer,
I wasn't asking you to improve the software, only the documentation. I
submitted it as a bug because I couldn't find a place to submit suggested
improvements to documentation. If you documentation would simply define
what an "address list" is -- what the file format needs to be -- it would
help a lot.

Thanks,
Betty
