When I insert images from a file on HDD, the image is inserted (not very correctly, but that's another issue) and when I close the file dialog, the Writer shows the first page, regardless of the page I insert the image.

I can't reproduce this bug. When I insert the picture, the focus is on the same page and the image is selected.
