I don't understand...you're trying to run glxgears, but it's not installed? glxgears does not come with Mesa itself; upstream, it comes from the Mesa-Demos source distribution. In Ubuntu, you need to install the mesa-utils package. Closing. This is user error, not a driver bug; glxgears has worked fine on IVB for a long time.
