Created attachment 61052 [details] Creative Zen MX mpi file I was initially disappointed to not see more Creative devices supported by this package, but I am passionate about helping to add that support. I am interested in anything that could be done to contribute to improving the database of media players. The concept behind this package is fantastic - it adds *tremendous* value to a Linux desktop experience for home users. The ZEN MX is a slightly modified version of the original ZEN (itself the precursor to the Zen X-Fi). So it is very similar to this device in many regards. Unfortunately, this is the only device I own so it is the only device at the moment for which I can provide such detailed information. Manufacturer: Creative Device Name: Zen MX Access Type: storage Formats supported: records in: WAV format playback: MP3, WMA, Audible 4 Playlists supported: M3U file stored in /Playlist files are referenced using 8.3 names (great to see so many ~'s!) executing the mimetype command on a playlist created in Creative Centrale yields "application/vnd.apple.mpegurl" Folders: /Audible - Audible.com digital audio books /Music - audio files /My Organizer - PIM info (from propietary Creative Centrale software) /Pictures - image files (JPEG format) /Recordings - audio recordings (microphone) /Video - video files (propietary CMV format/extension) Output of 'udevadm info': P: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0 E: DEVPATH=/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1d.7/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0 E: DEVTYPE=usb_interface E: DRIVER=usb-storage E: INTERFACE=8/6/80 E: MODALIAS=usb:v041Ep201Fd0001dc00dsc00dp00ic08isc06ip50 E: PRODUCT=41e/201f/1 E: SUBSYSTEM=usb E: TYPE=0/0/0 E: UDEV_LOG=3 Attached is a basic creative_zen-mx.mpi file I created based on my ability to understand the format of the .mpi files. Like I said, I'm really interested in helping, realizing that the main thing holding it back is probably feedback from users who own the devices.

I extended the file a bit using the additional information you gave me, and committed: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/media-player-info/commit/?id=89b90df723977 > Like I said, I'm really interested in helping, realizing that the main thing > holding it back is probably feedback from users who own the devices. That's correct. Unfortunately most devices with mass-storage USB mode are not self-descriptive (unlike the MTP protocol), so we need databases like this. Martin
