Description schaefer.pp 2012-05-05 03:24:54 UTC
Hello

when I set up my monitors like in the attachment "error.png" my whole system crashes. I cannot even open a tty with pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1. I have to shutdown my laptop (HP Pavilion g series) hardly with pressing the power button for about 3 secs.

The monitor I am using is acer S220HQL and I am running the intel driver on an internal i5 graphics card.

I am not quite sure if the bug is really in xrandr but everytime i try to configure my monitors with xrandr instead of the GUI, it fails too.

Only when I remove my ~/.config/monitors.xml the system starts with my user probably.

The monitors.xml which causes the bug:

Have you tested with 2.19.0 as I fixed one instance of a crash with dual monitors and a slightly incorrect initialisation sequence?
Comment 2 schaefer.pp 2012-05-09 01:31:23 UTC
I tried to install 2.19 from http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/xf86-video-intel-Download-54987.html and compiled it manually (./configure; make; make install) - and got no errors.
Then I rebooted and got the same error as before. I dont know if Xorg did not load the correct driver (2.18.0-3 is still installed, too) or if the update does not take effect... :(
Comment 3 Chris Wilson 2012-10-21 17:56:31 UTC
Can you please attach a fresh Xorg.log with a crash with uptodate drivers?
Comment 4 Chris Wilson 2012-11-22 09:47:26 UTC
Time out waiting for the crash report. Please reopen if you can reproduce with the current drivers (2.20.13) and provide the debug logs.
