media-player-info does not have MTP or PTP devices, as they describe themselves already and are handled by libmtp/libgphoto2. It only handles mass-storage devices (MSC), i. e. which look like an USB stick. If it does not work in MTP mode, please file a bug against libmtp or Rhythmbox.
