The attached picture says it all... confirmed on weston drm-backend and x11-backend.  I've seen this for a while but am just now getting around to filing the bug.

This was reported previously and moved to cairo (Bug 48752). I'm not marking as duplicated though since we may want to work around it on libtoytoolkit. One possible fix is to force the item surfaces to be cairo image surfaces. An as an added benefit, this solution would also fix the crash when one starts the drag.

Should be fixed in weston master now (by commit 210eb9d2bafda34f30b56171ba7adefc3df4c82d).
