Problem description: I am using Libreoffice Version 3.6.0beta1 (Build ID: 1f1cdd8) on a CentOS 6.2 final Kernel 2.6.32-220.17.1.el6.i686. When i am trying to open a file which is located in a windows shared folder only libreoffice startup logo appears and progress bar completed but then nothing happens neither file opens nor any error messages i get.

Steps to reproduce:
1. .XLS file available in a share folder on windows xp machine.
2. open share folder by smb://<ip of windows machine>/share folder/
3. select file and open it by double click or right click and select open.
4. Libreoffice logo appear and progress bar show completed and then disappear.
5. File not open and nothing appear.

Current behavior: File not open.

Expected behavior: File should be open to edit.

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:12.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/12.0

One more thing that previously i were using Libreoffice 3.5 stable release and had no any problem in such type of function.

@Pradeep
Does that really only affect spreadsheet documents?

This doesn't really sound like a LO bug. I tried with Libreoffice Version 3.6.0.4 (RC4) on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit with Windows shared folder in Windows domain. Works for me.
