Description Roger Pryor 2012-07-17 12:28:55 UTC
On a Linux KDE system, if a Libre Office window is open on a different desktop than the current one, attempting to launch Libre Office results in no response.

It should, in my opinion, either respond with an error message (already running), or switch focus to the appropriate desktop.

Debian GNU/Linux 64, KDE 4.8.4, I can confirm. Also I must say that, being a KDE and LiBo (former OOo) user since long time, this bugs has affected me a lot and is very annoying, still present in 3.6 and 4.x.
If you in dolphin click on the document that is already open, the mouse cursors enters in the "wait state" (rolling), in the task bar you see a new task that seems related to the document, the icon in the task bar of the current document is highlighted, you have to wait 30 (sigh!) seconds until it times out, then the new icon in the task bar disappears but nothing happens (no document window maximized). So fist time you think that something is broken, and the other times just get irritated :)
On my opinion should simply maximize the window is minimized and put focus on it, like it were the first time the document is open.

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.3.5 or later): https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

Thank you for your help!
