Description Przemysław Buczkowski 2012-07-17 21:03:34 UTC
Hello.

Could you create information file for Silesian language (ISO 639-3 code: "szl", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silesian language)?
It contains following letters:
à ã Ć ć Ł ł Ń ń Ŏ ŏ Ō ō Ô ô Õ õ Ś ś Ź ź Ż ż.

Thanks!

Some questions before starting to work:

1. how about Ůů?

2. I don't see any of ÃãŎŏŌōÔôÕõ from the above URL though, if there are any reference, please let us know.

3. there seems some variants for Silesian language, do we need to recognize separately? it may be required particularly when they have different coverage.

Ůů is element of older, so-called Steuer's ortography.

Given alphabet is relatively new. It was created to cover the pronunciation of all the dialects, now adopted by most Silesian language organizations.
Pages about it:
http://szl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedyjo:%C5%9Alabik%C5%8Frzowy_szrajb%C5%8Dnek (Silesian)
http://poslunsku.eu (Silesian, Polish)
http://silesiana.org.pl/ (Polish)
http://www.danga.pl (Polish)
And book:
Mirosław Syniawa: Ślabikŏrz niy dlŏ bajtli. ISBN 978-83-62349-01-2.

In addition, we've accepted this standard in “Silesian Ubuntu Translation” team (https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-szl).

I don't think these variants will be needed.

Could you review it?

Thanks!

Well, the references I meant is to make sure if we have certain coverage in the orthography file but what people actually use. I don't know about Silesian nor Polish but I couldn't find any references for the above characters. the wiki page at Comment#0 somewhat contains part of them, but it also contains something what you don't request. that's why I'm asking you for.

For example, see http://malayalam.kerala.gov.in/images/8/80/Qwerty_enhancedinscriptkeyboardlayout.pdf this is where we referred from to create brx.orth (Bodo) recently.

We prefer to put such references into the orthography file because it's easy to explain why it looks like. otherwise one may breaks without any notice.

Sorry for long absence. Explanation of alphabet with corresponding characters on the keyboard is here:
 http://poslunsku.eu/2012/07/slonsko-slabikorzowo-klawiatura-na-windows-i-ubuntu/

I hope it will be right.
