Description konsultor 2012-07-21 16:12:35 UTC
Problem description:
Select text to move while editing. Drag. As selection reaches page boundary LO crashes and disappears, with no popup for the bug report.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select text.
2. L-click and drag.
3. a) attempt to move selection to another page
    OR
   b) the cursor reaches the top or bottom of the window, which should start scrolling,
    OR
   c) the original selection straddles a page break

Current behavior:
Step 3a crashes LO repeatedly, six times in a row.
I notice 3b has crashed LO several times, but not certain every time.
Option 3c crashed once as soon as I started to drag it.

Expected behavior:
Selected text moves to new position where cursor is released.

Platform (if different from the browser):
Toshiba notebook; openSuse 11.4 (32-bit), KDE)

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0

NOT reproducible with an own Lorem Ipsum document and "LibreOffice 3.5.5.3. German UI/Locale [Build-ID: 7122e39-92ed229-498d286-15e43b4-d70da21] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

On pc Debian x86-64 with 3.5 branch updated today, I didn't reproduce the problem.

Can you attach the file so we can try to reproduce ?
Did you install any LO specific extension ?
Do you use any specific font ?
Can you reproduce this on a brand new doc with by default font ?
What's your Java version ?

Could you give a try with a brand new LO profile (see http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) ? Think to backup your profile.

If you still reproduce the problem, could you take a look to this http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugReport#How_to_get_backtrace_.28on_Linux.29 to retrieve an useful backtrace ?

Was traveling and didn't read your email promptly.

I'd be happy to supply additional information but I have since upgraded LO to 3.5.6.2 (on openSuse) and no longer see the problem.

Thanks for your response.

DOC file which causes crash when dragging bulleted selection

Try dragging the fifth bullet of the first list on page 1 to page 2; crashes LO and closes all windows without showing an error message or trace.

Historical note, just FYI:
Moving back from openSuse 12.2 to 11.4 apparently downgraded LO also. Older LO 3.5.403 has the problem. Will install LO 3.6.

Konsultor: to keep the bugtracking simple to manage, we try to have 1 bug -> 1.
So if you encounter a new bug, please file a new bug.

After update to 3.6, also works for me.
