Bold-paragraphs-bug.doc

Problem description: When saving a particular .DOC, part of the character formatting can not be undone: removing Bold.

When saved it goes away, but the first time the document is re-opened, the text is bold again.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached .DOC file
2. Leave "Agreement:" and
3. Format the rest of the text not to be bold
4. Save and close the document
5. Re-open it, it is bold again for me.

Platform: openSUSE 12.1 with LibreOffice 3.5 (build 403)
Comment 1 Steve Edmonds 2012-11-24 21:31:14 UTC
Confirmed on opensuse 12.2, same build. Saving as odt the file is ok, but opening the just saved odt and saving as doc introduces bolding that was not in the odt.

Confirmed by accident on 3.6.2 (Windows).
Users encountered it with one of their documents.

Checked with:
LO 4.0.0.0.beta2+
Build ID: 7bdf322a45505af8e23397bbeb08f7e21cb88c0
Windows XP Professional SP3

Could not reproduce. In the downloaded attachment only 1 xxxx, Agreement, Confidential Information are bold. Rest is plain text.

I also can't reproduce using Linux Mint 14 x64 with LibreOffice 4.0.0.3 rc3.

@Guy and Steve: is it possible for you to retest with a more recent version? As bfoman and I can't reproduce anymore it's maybe interesting to test with LibreOffice 4.0. But because this bug is reported against 3.5.4 it's also possible this is also fixed in version 3.6.5.

Therefore I mark this bug as NEEDINFO.

Thanks for your time retesting this.

Kind regards,
Joren

I downloaded the attachment and tested it with Version 4.0.0.3 (Build ID: 400m0(Build:103)) on openSUSE 12.2. It seems to indeed not be an issue anymore.

I will close this as resolved fixed. Please don't hesitate to change that if that's incorrect.

Many thanks!

Thanks for retesting. I wouldn't be rude, but I'm going to mark this not as FIXED but as WORKSFORME. We don't know exactly which commit fixed this problem, so we mark it as WORKSFORME instead.
I'm glad it works :-).

Kind regards,
Joren

FYI, the issue with my test document (generated independently of this bug report, see above) was solved with 3.6.4. Starting with that version, the previously persistently bolded text appears as non-bolded when one opens the document.
The bug did not reappear in 4.0.0.

I don't know which commit fixed it either.
