Created attachment 65390 [details] Picture of the problem Problem description: Steps to reproduce: 1. Install a dark desktop theme (i.e. Moonrise in Ubuntu 12.04) 2. Open Calc. 3. Background / Borders in any cell Current behavior: Background colors are not displayed. Borders in other colors are displayed properly. See attached picture of a document with red background in cell A1, and black borders in cell A2. Expected behavior: Background colors should change according to user selection. There should be a "smart" border color selection if black over black is detected (like choosing the default font color). Platform (if different from the browser): Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0
I can confirm this bug in LibreOffice on Ubuntu 12.04 using High Contrast Inverse theme. This theme is imperative with my visual disability and using calc or tables in writer can be very difficult when collaborating with others because if I set a border to white, they can't see it; if I set a border to black, I can't see it. Perhaps an "automatic" border, similar to how there is an automatic font, would be sufficient?

I installed Ambiance Blackout for Ubuntu: http://www.noobslab.com/2014/09/ambiance-blackout-colors-suite-offers.html Using the theme doesn't automatically change the bg of cells to black. If I manually change it to black from Options - Appearance, I don't get any of the problems described in the report. We already have a report for automatic adjustment to dark themes not working (bug 72466), so I'm closing this as WFM.
