Picture of the problem

Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install a dark desktop theme (i.e. Moonrise in Ubuntu 12.04)
2. Open Calc.
3. Background / Borders in any cell

Current behavior:
Background colors are not displayed. Borders in other colors are displayed properly.
See attached picture of a document with red background in cell A1, and black borders in cell A2.

Expected behavior:
Background colors should change according to user selection. There should be a "smart" border color selection if black over black is detected (like choosing the default font color).

Platform (if different from the browser):

Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0

I can confirm this bug in LibreOffice on Ubuntu 12.04 using High Contrast Inverse theme. This theme is imperative with my visual disability and using calc or tables in writer can be very difficult when collaborating with others because if I set a border to white, they can't see it; if I set a border to black, I can't see it. Perhaps an "automatic" border, similar to how there is an automatic font, would be sufficient?

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.3.5 or later): https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

Thank you for your help!

I installed Ambiance Blackout for Ubuntu: http://www.noobslab.com/2014/09/ambiance-blackout-colors-suite-offers.html

Using the theme doesn't automatically change the bg of cells to black.
If I manually change it to black from Options - Appearance, I don't get any of the problems described in the report.

We already have a report for automatic adjustment to dark themes not working (bug 72466), so I'm closing this as WFM.
