Created attachment 65452 [details] this is the document that presents the problems I am working on a big document (my thesis) and need to put sections and start renumbering the footnotes for each of them. This works until I close the document, but then reopen it again and all the sections are lost, and the footnote numbering starts from the first chapter all the way to the last (see attached document). This is very inconvenient, and the only way to get around it is by keeping the document opened all the time, and turn it into pdfs. I am a neophyte in libreoffice, admire your work and want to keep using it, but this is a major drawback. Thanks in advance and I hope you can give me a solution.

And maybe attach screenshots to this bug and/or the exported PDF? And did you really save it as a doc file in LO? And have you tried it with a newer version of LO than 3.5.0? Is it fixed there? And which OS/architecture are you using? Sorry for the inconvenience, but to reproduce your bug as a QA guy, who has no Window and/or M$O, it would be nearly impossible to reproduce your bug ... :( And the clearer the steps to reproduce, the better we can do our work ... ;) Thomas.

I attach a screenshot of the word document when I open it in Libre office 3.5.0 (I don't have a newer version). As an amateur, I don't know what OS I am using: how could I find out? The document is saved as Microsoft word 97/2000/XP/2003 (.doc). I have opened the document in my computer where Libreoffice writer is installed inside Wubi, and in the office where Libreoffice is nested in Windows. What other information could I provide? It would be great if you could fix this bug, as it would prevent many from switching to Word when working with large documents like theses....
