Description Richard Rieger 2012-08-15 17:05:06 UTC
Hello all of the group that support l10n and l18n.

This is a little cry for help, a little bit of background history, and a willingness to offer support and time (a very precious commodity in the Open-Source world) to enable support for the language derivative of en-CA.

There are other places on the web that give a better explanation of the unique characteristics of Canadian English, and I will not repeat them here.

What I am expressing,(IMHO), is the desire and the fortitude to implement, a variation on Libre-Office that consistent with common practice. It IS NOT to say that use of any en variant is better than the other,it is just to allow a unique place for those Open-Source individuals to have a home grown version of what will eventually be the largest user base in desktop applications.

So without too much ado, I urge all users of en-CA language to implement the package of updates,as they are finished, and enable the en-CA improvements.

[Remember, no person is an island, and LO is not different,but it does offer the opportunity for the localized improvements to be adopted by others(bork-bork-bork[1]).

i18n already supports en-CA including locale data, for example you can pick "English (Canada)" number formats. So apparently this is about an en-CA UI localization, l10n not i18n.

@Richard:
To get things going best is to start a localization in your interest, see http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/localizers/

So, I don't think we should keep this "bug" open. It is not a bug, as far as I'm concerned.
