Description Kevin Cody Jr. 2005-12-24 04:34:13 UTC
Original AIW Radeon works fine for 2D/3D but cannot view video overlays from any
input. Using most recent xawtv snapshot. Once in a while I see a flicker of
video, while the log rapidly grows with line after line of:

(II) RADEON(0): Rage Theatre setting standard 0x0000

It seems like it's continuously initializing the overlay.

gdm starts at boot. Logged in, ran xawtv for a few seconds, quit xawtv.

The AIW vivo/tv stuff does not provide a v4l compatible video interface, this
v4l apps like xawtv won't work. the video stuff is provided via Xv. IIRC, the
only app you can use to view AIW video is the one provided by the gatos project:
http://gatos.sourceforge.net/avview.php

AAview required for using video on AIW.

xawtv worked just fine with 6.8.2. It definitely supports the AIW overlay. I was
running the most recent stable (3.94 I think) until I installed 7.0.0, at which
point I tried the CVS version.

I'll give avview a shot when I get home, but something is definitely wrong.

It really does appear that something is stuck in a reinitialization loop. Did
you see the flood of messages at the end of that server log?

OK. I didn't realize it worked.

I was just guessing. I'm not really familiar with the AIW/gatos stuff. you may
want to ask on the gatos or xorg mailing lists. I'm not sure if the gatos
developers really use this bugzilla very much.

OK, I don't mind playing comm relay.

Thought GATOS was merged into Xorg as of 7.0.0??
Whose doorstep should I be haunting?

Thanx.

the gatos folks merged the radeon gatos code into xorg for this release,
however, they are still the most familiar with how the vivo stuff works, etc.
For vivo related problems they are still your best bet for support.

Did you manage to get any information from the GATOS folks?

Marking broken (status null/blank) bugs in xorg with no activity in a long time as fixed. Please reopen if you think it's necessary, but first do a search if a similar bug report is already filed and in a NEW/ASSIGNED state. These bugs do not currently show in most search results as they do not have any status.
