When I run GL programs I often get a hang. The server can be killed by logging
in using the network (I used signal 11 as most programs produce a core/backtrace
then). I was running a CVS version from December 26.

I am using EXA acceleration, which shows up in the backtrace.

I am using Debian Linux with a 2.4.22 kernel and the radeon.o driver compiled
from the xorg source.

My graphics card is a Radeon 9200SE.

This crash happened while running the test_crash.exe program from ode (in which
crash refers to something crashing into something else as ode is a physics engine).

can you try Option "SilkenMouse" "No"

I tried with "SilkenMouse" "No" and it still crashed, but now I couldn't attach 
gdb (would hang) or kill the server with either -11 or -9 so I don't have a 
backtrace.

Very odd, it's segfaulting in the libc ioctl function... could it be that
there's actually a kernel oops occurring? (Check kernel output)

Other than that, the only thing I notice is that you seem to have some old X
server modules lying around, try moving those out of the way maybe.

The 'old X server modules' were incorrectly built radeon video in modules... It
would still be interesting to know if the crashes actually occur in the kernel
though, and to see any accompanying kernel output. Quite frankly though, current
Radeon DRI is known to have issues with 2.4 kernels, have you tried a 2.6 kernel?

Sorry, on that machine I have since upgraded to 2.6 and, as I got kind of tired
of fighting, installed the debian packages which work a bit better (still some
hangs though).
