Created attachment 67739 [details] screenshots I have attached 4 screenshots that may explain everything for itself. I got this problem only when working with dejavu serif. no other font shows that error. dejavu sans ISNT showing that error too. Iam working with indesign cs5 on windows 7 & most recent version of dejavu. some lines appear to be broken when i use justified text with dejavu serif. (see screenshot 1) broken lines vary with size of textbox (see screenshot 2) lines are not broken when i use left-justified text. but indesign shows problems with the same lines anyhow and adds "undefined character" at the end of line (see screenshot 3) it seems the problem is the combination of "ffi" or "fi". like in the english word oFFIce or german word oFFIziell. when removing 1 of the characters the error disapears. also when 1 character is put between, problem is disappearing. (see screenshot 4) how can i solve this? thanks in advance. matthias

This is because to conflicting ffi-ligature definitions. As Martin Fischer wrote in this discussion (in German, with screenshots and InDesign files to clarify): http://www.hilfdirselbst.ch/foren/Schrift_l%E4uft_aus_Textblock_heraus_%28ID_CS_6%29_P513702.html?sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread There’s definitions for 1. sub f f by uniFB00; 2. sub uniFB00 i by uniFB03; The second should be deleted, it conflicts with the first and in my case led to text lines running straight out of the text box when a ffi ligature occurred. You can delete this definition (see last post on thread above) or, in InDesign, use the global composer. Uli
The offending ligature definitions have been removed.
Created attachment 84771 [details] Ligature problem in Dejavu Sans, in Linux/Firefox
It seems that after this change there are ligature problems. I'm using Dejavu Sans in Linux and Firefox. I attached a screenshot above.
(In reply to comment #7) > It seems that after this change there are ligature problems. I'm using > Dejavu Sans in Linux and Firefox. I attached a screenshot above. Did you try restarting Firefox after you updating the font? Firefox will show glyphs with the previous order unless you restart it. For example if the font had the glyphs a, c and you update the font with a, b, c, (adding b right after a, changing the index number of c) then Firefox will show b instead of c.
