Hi, I just bought a new i7 laptop where i installed Debian wheezy(kernel 3.2). All hardware are detected but i notice the graphics are not working good, the resolution is bad an ugly. I tried other Linux distribution and works fine it only happens in debian wheezy. I have heard that there is an issue with the new intel i7 (2º generation) with the graphics in debian. Here is my hardware(sorry is in spanish): Procesador / Chipset CPU Intel Core i7 (2ª Gen) 2670QM / 2.2 GHz Número de núcleos Quad-Core Caché L3 - 6 MB Computación de 64 bits Sí Chipset Intel HM65 Express Memoria RAM 6 GB ( 1 x 4 GB + 1 x 2 GB ) Máxima RAM admitida 16 GB Tecnología DDR3 SDRAM Velocidad 1333 MHz Factor de forma DIMM SO de 204 patillas Cantidad de ranuras 4 Ranuras vacías 2 Almacenamiento Disco duro 750 GB HDD / 5400 rpm Interfaz Serial ATA-300 Tecnología de retroiluminación de LCD Retroiluminación LED Resolución 1366 x 768 ( HD ) Pantalla panorámica Sí Coeficiente del aspecto de imagen 16:9 Características ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology, resplandor, 30 Days Bright Dot Return Audio & Vídeo Configuración multi-GPU 1 tarjeta GPU sencilla / GPU integrada Procesador gráfico NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M / Intel HD Graphics 3000 - 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM Propiedades del sistema de vídeo NVIDIA Optimus, Video Magic Technology Cámara Cámara web integrada Sonido Altavoces estereofónicos , micrófono Funciones de audio ASUS SonicMaster, ASUS Bang & Olufsen ICEpower There is any fix? Hi Ruben, Unfortunately, none of the people reading this bug are likely to be able to help: Mesa is the 3D driver, which doesn't affect display resolution. It's likely that you just need a newer kernel. You might try that. Alternatively, since you say it works with other distributions, you might consider filing a bug with the Debian project: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting Closing as "not our bug."
