Description OldETC 2012-10-08 16:56:34 UTC
LibreOffice 3.4.6
OOO340m1 (Build:602)

FC16 Kernel Linux 3.4.11-1.fc16.x86_64
GNOME 3.2.1
 Memory 7.8GiB
6 processor AMD Phenom II X6 1035T processor

I use Calc charts for documentation of technical information. Typical chart size is up to 65536 entries, line charts.

Currently the chart is broken in several ways.
1. The default line chart includes Icons and should not.
2. Loading the chart takes and unconscionable amount of time (this is recent)
3. Any action on the chart seems to restart the entire evaluation process, and again everything slows to a crawl. The system slows and I cannot do anything until it finishes.
If I bring up system monitor CPU 5 is maxed out and the others are normal (about 20% given the other stuff I generally have open.)

My system was just updated friday, so everything should be as current as the mirrors.

I cannot furnish any dumps or data due to the crash that occurs. There are no error messages that I can see ( they may be behind calc, but if so I cannot get to them.

Regards,
LesH

Could you attach any example documents to allow others to check on different
system/build?

ODS spreadsheet with forumlae only.

Couldn't generate the chart. Calc just stopped responding. However I can minimize it and bring it back using the activities/ click on calc method. The chart entry box is still up, and one processor is at 100%. The processor will vary, which I suspect is something in the OS due to the processor loading and choice of processor algorithms.

It also is beneficial to note that the line chart now always defaults to the line with icons, not the bare line even if the chart with barelines is selected.

It could be something in my user profile I guess, so I'll try a different user.

It looks like my text was lost... Calc has been working on the chart for more than 15 minutes now. It has not regenerated. I have sent the .ods file with only the sine calculation in it.

Seems works fine with:

Win7x64 Ultimate. i3 4GB
LibreOffice 3.3.4 OOO330m19 (Build:401) tag libreoffice-3.3.4.1
LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b
LibreOffice Versión 3.6.2.2 (ID de compilación: da8c1e6)
LibreOffice Version 3.7.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: bc63efc)

No more than ten seconds to generate the chart.

Do you try to resetting the user profile?

No problem on my side under Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 with LO 3.6.4.0+ and LO 3.5.7.2

You should try to disable hardware acceleration for graphics: menu Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View.

Deleted the profile and the program worked for a couple of weeks, now it is broken again. Sheets created a long time ago work OK with charts. I just cannot create a new sheet with a chart. Something is altering the profile in some manner that breaks charting within the spreadsheet during creation of a new sheet.

What version are you writing about?
Comment 8 Jean-Baptiste Faure 2013-11-09 11:10:12 UTC
No answer from reporter since several months.
Incriminated version (3.4.6) is out of date. I will close this bug report as invalid.
Please, if you encounter a similar bug with current version, open another bug report. Indeed heavy rework has been done on Chart and Calc and the root cause would be probably different.
