Description Václav Dort 2012-10-12 10:51:34 UTC
Autocorrect function doesn't function. If I place quotation mark from character map, everythink is OK, but not from keyboard.
Comment 1 Roman Eisele 2012-10-13 17:12:39 UTC
Thank you very much for your bug report!

However, to reproduce (and fix) it, we need more information. May I ask

* You mean double quotation marks, right (not single)?
* Which language is your text in (what does the popup menu at the bottom of
  the pane “Font” of the dialog window “Character”, available from the menu
  “Format > Character...”, say)?
* Which wrong format of quotation marks does LibreOffice insert
  when you type them from keyboard:
  "..." or „...“ or “...” or „...” or «...» or »...« or ...?
* And which format of quotation marks do you expect/want -- e.g.,
  „...“ or “...” or „...” or «...» or »...« or ...?
* Have you correctly setup these quotation marks in the pane “Localized
  Options” in the dialog window “AutoCorrect”, availble from the menu
  via “Tools > AutoCorrect Options...”? Is the checkbox “Replace” checked?
* Which user interface for LibreOffice do you use (i.e., which langpack
  have you installed and use)?
* Which version of Mac OS X do you use?
* Which user interface language for Mac OS X do you use?
* Which keyboard layout do you use -- you can change this in Apple’s
  “System Preferences”, section “Language and Text”, section “Input sources”
  (the exact names vary with different Mac OS X version)?

Sorry for all the questions, but I need answers to them to replicate your situation exactly; then I can reproduce and analyze it.

Thank you very much for your answers in advance!
Comment 2 Václav Dort 2012-10-13 17:39:48 UTC
* This is double quotation mark problem (but quotation mark I don't tested)

* Language of text is Czech

* Character map is from system

* Open office insert "xxxxxx" expect and set is „a“

* This is correctly set, I think problem is LibreOffice on Mac OS place different quotation mark after press key, then other systems and then is not possible change quotation

* 10.8.2

* Language and keyboard are Czech, but with English is same result

Thanks

Vaclav Dort

Thank you for your answers!

I had no time over the weekend, but now I am trying to reproduce the issue ... Experience has shown that this may take some time, even in a simple case like this one, therefore please be patient ;-)

@Václav Dort

please, take a look at this Bug 54409 - Autocorrect not operating next to quote or quotation marks

are you describing the same problem?

if Yes, we should mark the current Bug as a duplicate.
Comment 5 Václav Dort 2012-12-17 17:50:47 UTC
Sorry this is different problem.
Comment 6 Jorendc 2013-01-02 11:10:04 UTC
Hi,

I have no problems here with Dutch localization.
You can change the behavior of the AutoCorrect: Tools > AutoCorrect Options... > tab 'Localized Options'. There you can change the behavior of single quotes and double quotes (both starting and ending). Playing with these settings, does this solve your problem (make sure you also checked the box 'Replace' under 'Single quotes' and 'double quotes')? Or is this the bug? I played around a bit with this settings, and doesn't have problems. Correct behavior.

Tested with: Mac OS X 10.8.2;
LibreOffice LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 Build ID: 3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b and
LibreOffice 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: c5132e30fb09477aa46d810dd86727b3aa8cf20)
TinderBox: MacOSX-Intel@1-built_no-moz_on_10.6.8, Branch:master, Time: 2012-12-30_01:12:12

Kind regards,
Joren

The problem occurs when you enter a quote from a hardware or software keyboard. Quotes specified via character browser are fine replaced.

@Roman Eisele
Do you have time to re-check this on Mac? Thanks.

@Václav Dort
is this still a problem with recent 4.0.4 or 4.1.0 releases?

Sorry, but in LibreOffice 4.1.2.3 problem is still same. Mac os 10.8.5, Czech language is set in Language settings.

Can not reproduce on LO 4.1.4.2 with FR langpack on OSX 10.9 Mavericks.

Spelling mistakes in words or phrases between the default French quotation marks are flagged as incorrect, and I can correct them via the context menu. It makes no difference whether it is a single word, or a whole sentence, between the quotation marks.

I would suggest that this is a problem of the Czech langpack ?

Changed title to better reflect the situation

Note that I also tested with single straight (dumb) quotation marks and autocorrect still works on my OSX FR langpack system.
