Description Enrico Tagliavini 2012-10-31 11:09:20 UTC
With mesa 9.0 the top of the screen is corrupted randomly. It comes and goes as the surfaces are refreshed. For a screenshot see bug #55845"Screen Corruption" attachment. Other components I tried: kernel 3.6.4 3.7-rc3 and intel-drm-nightly of 31/10/2012; libdrm 2.4.39 ; xorg 1.12.2 ; video-intel 2.20.12 (both using UXA and SNA).

Downgrading to mesa 8.0.4 solve the issue, so this is a regression.

I forgotten an important point: how to reproduce.

For me is fairly easy. I use KDE with composite enabled. Within 5 minutes (using the desktop, not idling) it will happen. At the moment I use KDE 4.8.5. I always have firefox using all the screen except some centimeters on the right where I have conky, and of course the bottom panel.

It seems this is a bug in kwin and it has been fixed. I was affected by this bug, too, but my distribution (Arch Linux) picked this commit (in the 4.9 branch):

http://quickgit.kde.org/index.php?p=kde-workspace.git&a=commit&h=6cf057777555a5d0c834de3a0165a62916cf3b40

which fixed the bug for me.

Thank you very much. Seems to work here too.
