Description bugquestcontri 2012-11-20 01:44:54 UTC
Problem description:
Around images I only use the thinnest line available which I get with Style: continuous and Width: 0.00cm. This is also the default width. These lines showed up only at the bottom or the bottom and right side.

In the test I started with width 0.01 cm (0.004") and continued in steps or 0.01 cm up to 0.06 cm. At about 0.04 cm I got the impression that the line on the top and left side of an image is slowly appearing. At 0.06 cm it was obvious that the line does not go exactly around the picture but the closed line is shifted to the right bottom

When using line widths of 0.1 cm or more the lines are pretty good to be seen because the hidden part is small compared with the line width. However when I have a close look, I can see a white gap between the bottom and right side line and the image. This too shows that the line around an image is off-set to bottom-right by about 0.03 - 0.04 cm.

This off-set appears to be small but it becomes fully visible if thin lines are drawn around an image.

I use jpg, gif, and wmf images for my test. All behave the same.

Steps to reproduce:
1.Paste or insert from file an image into Impress
2. Select image
3. Click Line button
4. Change to Style visible
5. Increase line width: from 0.00 cm in 0.01 cm steps to 0.1 cm

Current behavior:
Line around image is off-set to bottom right by about 0.04 cm. Thin lines cannot be used

Expected behavior:
Line goes symmetrically around an image and thin lines can be used.

Platform (if different from the browser):
XP/SP3
Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0

If you cannot confirm on your machine. Please let me know I can create a file.

Re: your test, I zoomed in to 800% so I could see detail and put a 0.01cm red line around a test image. The line looked of equal width on all 4 edges and showed no gap between the image and the line.

I then zoomed out to 600%. At this zoom level a gap was seen on the bottom edge, between the image and the line. All lines were present and appeared to be of equal width.

At 500%, the line hugs the entire image, but the right and bottom lines are slightly (but noticeably) thicker than the lines on the top and left.

At 400%, gap is seen on bottom and right. The thickness discrepancy is similar to 500%, but much more pronounced.

At 300%, gap only seen between image and right line. Thickness discrepancy remains.

At 200%, gap seen at bottom.

At 100%, lines are so small it's hard to judge.

(Repro'd using LO 3.4.4 on ubuntu 11.10)

Qubit, thanks for making the test.

As you made the test by zooming in to see the gap on LubO 3.4.4 on ubuntu 11.10, I repeated it by zooming in,
Observations
line = line on top and left edge of image
gap = gab on bottom and rigth edge of image
line not = line is not
100% - line not visible - gap visible
200% - line not visible - gap visible
400% - line hardly visible - gap visible
800% - line partially visible - gap visible
1000% - line partially visible - gap visible
3000% - line almost fully visibel - gap visible

Using your approach with zooming in, I could measure the off-set to very close to 0.05cm. This is a bit more than my first estimation of 0.03 - 0.04 cm. The zooming in methods allows a better measurement.

qubit, I just came back to this bug and saw that my LibO version information disapperared. Here it is again:

LibO 3.5.7.2 running on XP pro / SP3
Comment 4 bugquestcontri 2012-12-26 07:53:43 UTC
As I upgraded to LibO 3.6.4.3, I made another test.

Result: the off-set as before

XP/SP3 on the same PC

for me it seems not to be reproducible with LO 4.3.2.2 (Win 8.1)

Does this issue still persist for you or anybody else with the latest release of LO?
Comment 6 bugquestcontri 2014-10-19 12:23:31 UTC
I checked LibO 4.2.6.3 on XP and did not see the problem anymore.

Thanks to the one(s) who fixed the bug!
