Have to tried to resync the screen on the X checkerboard pattern with the screen's OSD menu?

Our monitor is auto ajusting, and the rest display modes except I listed work well.

Still, does this keep on happenening once you boot into desktop? I've seen quite a few screens which don't properly sync with the console output (since due to all the blacks it's not clear where the real screen starts/ends).

Yeah, during machine booting to console with VGA, screen shift right straight to the end. gnome-session(and X) also shifted. Other mode like HDMI worked nicely.
I believe the monitor is OK.

To repeat: Have you tried to sync the VGA output with the screen's OSD? Shifted image can happen with VGA since the analog signal has no canonical line/frame start signal. Also, syncing VGA with the X rootweave works best, the console has way too much black ...

You can also use testdisplay, that has nice corner markers.

I use testdisplay, then find this bug, I have attached the photograph after booting. Then you let me start X, and I find it's also shifted.

testdisplay uncorrect mode I have listed when I reported this bug.

current test result like below:
--------------------------------
screen shift right:
CRTS(3):[0] 1920x1200 60 1920 1968 2000 2080 1200 1203 1209 1235 0x9 0x48 154000

failed to display:
CRTS(3):[1] 1920x1080 60 1920 2040 2248 2576 1080 1081 1084 1118 0x6 0x0 172780

The photograph of uncorrect display mode you can have a look at attachment.

Hm, that's strange ...

I think we should keep it around until we've figured out what's going on exactly ...

Hi

Does the following patch fix the problem?

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=74877

Thanks,
Paulo

This issue might be happened on specific monitor(MODEL NO: 2709Wb).I tried to use auto adjust on monitor(MODEL NO: 2709Wb), but it's also shifted. Then I test on another monitor, this VGA mode (1920x1200) can display correctly.

Do you believe we can close this bug here?
Comment 18 Daniel Vetter 2013-02-17 11:52:48 UTC
Yeah, smells very much like the VGA screen is having a hard time adjusting correctly. So imo ok to shift blame to the hw ;-)

Closing old verified.
